There are seven workout programs in this trainer, and exercisers can choose from the 20 resistance levels. It has a soft touch display that provides workout statistics like segment time, strides per minute, calories burned, distance covered, heart rate, among others. Exercisers can work out their upper and lower bodies without straining their joints, hips, knees, and feet.

There are several similarities between the EFX 556 V1 and the EFX 556 V3. Both have 20 resistance levels. These two elliptical trainers also display readouts with statistics like average speed, calories burned, distance covered, heart rate, time elapsed, amongst others. But the V1 pales in comparison in terms of exercise programs, with the V3 having nine — manual, cross country, weight loss, variety, interval, heart rate control, fitness test, cross training, and hill climb. The V3 can also accommodate exercisers weighing as much as 350 pounds. The V3 is also more user-friendly with features like a reading rack, water bottle holder and utility tray. The console of the V3 also supports seven other languages apart from English. The V3 is also slightly taller and wider than the V1. It can be concluded that the Precor EFX 556 V1 Elliptical machine is a simple, entry-level cross trainer with the V3 a more complete version of the said model.
